Hailing from the Tikamgarh district in Madhya Pradesh, Akash Singh Yadav has demonstrated that an entrepreneurial spirit is the true driver of success. While still a student in the 11th grade, Akash made the life-changing decision to venture into the world of business. Coming from a farming background, he lacked significant initial capital; however, he managed to gather 2.5 lakh rupees and launched a garment venture alongside his brother. Today, that small initiative has grown into a successful enterprise, where Akash not only earns a profit running into lakhs but also provides sustainable employment to five other individuals.
Expanding the reach
Over the past six years, Akash has expanded his trade across various districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. He explains that whenever a fair, exhibition, or sale bazaar is organized, he ensures his shop is set up at the venue. Recently, he successfully operated a stall at the Chhatarpur sale bazaar. His popularity among customers stems from his ability to offer high-quality garments at remarkably low prices. His business operations cover diverse locations including Mahoba and Mauranipur in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.
The spark of entrepreneurship
Reflecting on the early days, Akash recalls that during his 11th-grade studies, he realized that simply earning an academic degree would not guarantee him a stable job. He felt a strong desire to create his own path rather than searching for employment. To find the right business idea, he spent time exploring various city markets and gained a practical understanding of how trade functions. Leveraging his initial 2.5 lakh rupees, he began his journey in the apparel industry.
Steady growth and achievement
Akash notes that he focused more on business growth during his formative years, yet he successfully completed his undergraduate studies, earning a BSc degree alongside his work. The scale of his business has significantly evolved since the start. The operation that began with an investment of 2.5 lakh rupees has now grown to an investment level of 10 to 15 lakh rupees. Akash shares that having experienced unemployment himself, providing jobs to five others serves as his greatest personal achievement.
Quality and affordability
His shop offers a wide variety of ready-made apparel, including shirts, T-shirts, lowers, and shorts. Customers can purchase good quality items at prices ranging from 150 rupees to 300 rupees. Since the stock is sourced from manufacturing hubs like Delhi, Ludhiana, and Ambala, he is able to keep prices competitive. Akash points out that while he does not sell expensive high-end branded items, he provides high-quality first copies that satisfy his customers. Clothes that are typically sold for 500 rupees elsewhere are available at his shop for just 300 rupees, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
