Agriculture can yield impressive returns with minimal investment and a short turnaround time, a fact proven by Rajesh Prasad, a farmer residing in Saran village within the Lahladpur block of Saran district in Chhapra. Having studied only up the 8th standard, Rajesh continues to baffle agricultural experts through his practical wisdom and modern farming approaches, generating robust profits in remarkably short periods by cultivating short-duration cash crops.
High Profits From Radish Cultivation on Small Land
Rajesh Prasad primarily focuses on crops that mature rapidly and find an immediate market. The cornerstone of his success lies in radish farming. The total expenditure on high-quality radish seeds and fertilizers for a single katha of land amounts to merely 300 to 500 rupees. In terms of yield, a single katha easily produces around 4 to 5 quintals of radishes. With radishes currently retailing between 40 and 50 rupees per kilo in the market, he secures a net profit of up to 5000 rupees simply by selling the produce from one katha.
Harvesting Crops Within 25 to 30 Days
According to Rajesh Prasad, green vegetables such as radishes and spinach become ready for the market in just 25 to 30 days. Because the crop cycle wraps up in such a brief window, the land never remains idle. The moment the radish harvest concludes, he promptly plants cabbages, tomatoes, or cauliflowers in the same soil, ensuring steady earnings throughout the agricultural season.
Daily Income Through Multi-Cropping Techniques
Rather than depending entirely on a single crop, he adopts multi-cropping methods. To manage daily expenses and secure a regular income stream, he has cultivated crops like cauliflowers, green chilies, eggplants, and tomatoes. The experience of Rajesh Prasad demonstrates that if farmers select the right seeds and appropriate crops at the right time, farming ceases to be a losing proposition and transforms into a consistently lucrative business.
