India's largest paint maker, Asian Paints Ltd., has kicked off the financial year 2026-27 on a strong note, delivering robust double-digit growth in both revenue and profit for the first quarter. The numbers underline that the company's grip on the paint market remains firmly intact.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Asian Paints posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,539 crore, a 9.9% increase over the same quarter a year earlier. Consolidated revenue from operations also grew nearly 18% year on year, touching around Rs 10,542 crore.
A Strong Show On The Operating Front
The company's operating performance was equally impressive. Net profit came in at Rs 1,539 crore, up around 40% year on year, while EBITDA rose 33.4% to Rs 2,169 crore.
On the margin side, Asian Paints reported an EBITDA margin of 20.6%, an improvement of nearly 240 basis points over the 18.2% recorded in the same quarter last year. That gain points to tighter cost control and healthy sales momentum.
Decorative Business Leads The Charge
The biggest contributor to the quarter's performance was the company's core India decorative paints business. Despite a competitive market, the segment logged 9% volume growth, a clear sign that consumer demand is holding up. In value terms, the segment expanded by roughly 16.6%.
This continued momentum in decorative paints reflects the resilience of the housing and renovation market. Asian Paints has held on to its leadership here through an extensive dealer network, strong brand recall and a steady stream of innovative products.
Overseas Operations Post A Sharp Jump
The international arm also gathered pace. With demand improving across overseas markets, international business revenue climbed 27% year on year. Even more striking, profit before tax from the international business surged nearly 95% to Rs 74 crore.
As the company deepens its footprint across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, this overseas business is fast becoming an important engine of future growth.
Mixed Signals In Home Decor
Within its home decor portfolio, the results were mixed. During the quarter, the bath fittings business ran into headwinds, weighed down by subdued demand and competitive pressure.
Notably, Asian Paints has been steadily moving beyond paints as part of its long-term growth strategy, expanding into home decor categories such as kitchens, bath fittings, waterproofing, adhesives and furnishings.
How The Stock Reacted
Following the first-quarter earnings announcement, shares of Asian Paints closed today's session at Rs 2,761 apiece, up 0.91%.
