Farmers across Uttar Pradesh have received significant festive relief this Dussehra as the state administration rolled out major subsidies for purchasing agricultural equipment. The initiative seeks to bring advanced agricultural technologies within reach of regular cultivators while curbing direct cultivation expenses. Financial assistance is being disbursed across thousands of machines through several specialized government programs, with the registration window running from October 7 through October 20 via official digital channels.
Subsidies Approved Across Multiple Mechanization Schemes
Detailing the deployment of machinery, Balram Verma, Joint Director (Agricultural Engineering) of the Agriculture Department, stated that subsidies have been sanctioned for 2,166 farm implements under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization. Alongside this effort, the crop residue management program covers another 1,755 agricultural machines for financial support. By providing financial clearance for these thousands of units, the administration aims to facilitate the widespread adoption of modern tools for field preparation, harvesting, and residue processing, directly reducing manual labor and overhead expenses.
Major Grants for Custom Hiring Centres and Machinery Banks
The support framework extends beyond individual equipment purchases to foster community-level infrastructure. The program includes financial assistance of up to 10 lakh rupees each for establishing Custom Hiring Centres and Farm Machinery Banks, enabling groups to purchase sets of equipment for shared usage. Farmers can also tap into the program to acquire agricultural drones and specialized farming gear. Furthermore, under the crop residue management initiative, the provision of assistance scales up to 30 lakh rupees for setting up Custom Hiring Centres alongside benefits earmarked for individual farm implements, ensuring high-capacity machinery becomes accessible to smaller landholders.
Targeted Support for Maize Machinery and Plant Protection Tools
Specialized agricultural schemes have also been folded into this mechanization drive to address diversified cropping patterns. Under the Accelerated Maize Development Programme, cultivators can apply for maize shellers and millet parlours to improve post-harvest processing. In parallel, the pest and disease control scheme provides subsidized plant protection equipment, helping growers safeguard standing crops against infestations and outbreaks without bearing the full equipment cost.
Application Procedure Open Through Official Web Portal
To ensure a structured allotment process, all bookings and applications are being conducted online from October 7 to October 20. Growers can submit their requests on the Agriculture Department portal at www.agriculture.up.gov.in. Prospective applicants need to navigate to the Kisan Corner section on the homepage and click on the Yantra Booking Prarambh option to reserve machinery.
