The district administration in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, has enforced stringent security measures following a massive violent clash that erupted recently. To maintain public order, Section 144 has been strictly imposed across the Kotwali police station jurisdiction. Under these regulations, all processions, public gatherings, and assemblies of crowds are completely banned. A heavy deployment of police personnel guards the entire zone, and authorities report that the situation is currently under control.
Triggered by a Controversial Post
The entire incident originated from a contentious post shared on social media platforms, which ignited tensions between two opposing groups. This digital dispute spilled over into the Khaparganj locality under the City Kotwali station limits, where members of both factions confronted each other, escalating from verbal abuse into aggressive name-calling. Within moments, the argument transformed into violent physical combat accompanied by heavy stone-pelting from both sides. Hundreds of people gathered on the streets during the night, creating panic and chaos throughout the neighborhood.
Vandalism at the Police Station and Shops
The violent mobs targeted not only local residential homes and commercial shops but also attacked the City Kotwali police station itself with widespread vandalism. The intensity of the stone pelting made it extremely difficult for law enforcement to manage the escalating crowd. To disperse the rioters, police resorted to baton charges and fired multiple tear gas shells. During these clashes, Tarbahar station house officer Ravi Tiwari along with several other police personnel sustained injuries and were promptly rushed to the hospital for treatment.
