Central Delhi Kings registered a thrilling 21-run victory over West Delhi Lions in the 37th match of the Delhi Premier League 2026. Batting first, Central Delhi put up a formidable total of 232/8 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, West Delhi Lions fought hard but could only manage 211/8 in their 20 overs, falling short of the massive target.
Central Delhi Batsmen Dominate the Powerplay
Asked to bat first, Central Delhi laid a solid foundation right from the top. Openers Samarth Singh and Siddhant June played aggressive knocks, with Samarth scoring 37 runs off 14 balls and Siddhant adding 33 runs from 17 deliveries. Mony Grewal provided the late acceleration, smashing 42 runs off just 16 balls, featuring four boundaries and three maximums. Valuable contributions of 26 runs each from Yugal Saini and Keshav Dabas propelled the team to a challenging total of 232.
Nitish Rana Blitz Goes in Vain
Chasing a steep target of 233, West Delhi relied heavily on their skipper Nitish Rana, who played a breathtaking cameo of 31 runs in just 10 balls, hitting four sixes and a boundary. Ankit Rajesh Kumar anchored the innings with a brilliant 61 off 30 balls, laced with five sixes and four fours. Opener Krish Yadav contributed 46 runs, while Tishant Dabla and Hiten Dalal chipped in with 22 runs each. Despite these power-packed performances, West Delhi fell short by 21 runs at the end of the 20 overs.
Bowling Figures and Key Breakthroughs
Defending the total, Central Delhi bowlers kept their nerve under pressure. Mony Grewal, Keshav Dabas, and Tejas Baroka picked up two wickets each to stall the chase. On the other side, Manan Bhardwaj was the pick of the bowlers for West Delhi, claiming 3 wickets for 37 runs in his 4 overs. Shubham Dubey and Mayank Gosain took two wickets apiece, while captain Nitish Rana also chipped in with a wicket, though it wasn't enough to prevent a defeat.
