Aaryavir Sets the Early Tempo on Debut
Taking up the mantle at the top of the order, Aaryavir Sehwag stepped onto the field for his debut appearance in India Under-19 colours. Displaying immediate positive intent, the young opener attacked the bowling from the start, dispatching five boundaries across the ground in an enterprising 26-ball knock of 28 runs.
Aaryavir combined effectively with captain Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani to build a brisk foundation. The opening pair put on 45 runs in just 6.1 overs, with Raichandani chipping in with 15 runs from 15 deliveries. The aggressive start proved vital in giving India early momentum during a rain-curtailed fixture.
Anvay Provides Late-Overs Firepower
Arriving at number six, 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Anvay Dravid injected explosive energy into the lower middle order. Rather than pacing his innings slowly, the right-hander unleashed an ultra-aggressive batting display tailored for modern white-ball formats, striking at 211.11.
Anvay raced to 38 runs off just 18 deliveries, smashing two fours alongside three towering sixes. At the other end, Yashwardhan Chauhan offered valuable support, with the duo stitching together an exhilarating 69-run partnership for the fourth wicket in only 34 deliveries. Their late onslaught lifted India Under-19 to a competitive total of 182 for 6 in their allocated overs.
Visitors Fall Short by Seven Runs
Chasing a revised target in Rajkot, the Australia Under-19 batting unit encountered disciplined bowling and fell just short of the finish line. The visitors were restricted to 175 for 7 at the close of play, granting India a hard-fought seven-run win to open the series.
Anvay Builds on Sri Lanka Series Form
This match-winning performance further consolidates Anvay's credentials at the junior international level. He was part of the national squad during the youth ODI tour of Sri Lanka in July 2026. In the second fixture of that tour at Hambantota, he crafted a composed 87 off 67 balls, though India were unable to defend 285 on that occasion, eventually succumbing to an eight-wicket loss.
Domestic Exposure for the Sehwag Siblings
Aaryavir has been steadily building match experience across local competitive circuits. Just last month, he featured in two matches representing West Delhi Lions in the Delhi Premier League 2026. During the 2025 season, he was part of the Central Delhi Kings setup.
His younger brother Vedant Sehwag is also pursuing a career in competitive cricket. While Vedant has yet to make his playing debut in the tournament, Central Delhi Kings recruited him into their roster for the 2026 edition of the competition.
