Addressing questions on the chief selector's contractual horizon, Devajit Saikia noted that there is ample time before any final determination needs to be made. Saikia said, 'We still have 15 days left.' He further emphasized that a fortnight is a substantial period in the sporting world. The secretary noted that the general assembly did not assemble to debate or evaluate specific individual appointments.
Agarkar recently took part in a senior selection committee meeting in New Delhi, marking the final formal session within his existing tenure. In recent weeks, discussions had circulated regarding team fitness protocols, scheduling priorities, and long-range roadmap planning toward the 2027 ODI World Cup. Speculation intensified after Agarkar did not attend the review session following the tour of England.

India is set to host senior and India A matches against New Zealand in approximately four weeks, making stability in team selection a pressing governance matter. Multiple veteran players and observers advocate for continuity, citing the side's steady achievements across limited-overs formats over the preceding three seasons under Agarkar's supervision. Dismissing whispers that the Indian team management expressed reservations regarding the venue, Saikia emphasized that nearly half a year remains before the scheduled fixture. He added that the governing body has not received any formal representation requesting an alternative location, effectively confirming that planning for the Ranchi match proceeds as originally designated.

The governing body also outlined immediate measures regarding grassroots talent scouting and support staff arrangements. Saikia indicated that the Cricket Advisory Committee will soon conduct interviews to finalize the junior selection panel. After processing a considerable volume of applications, the board aims to conclude the selection of junior panelists within the next 10 to 15 days.
Additionally, former Assam Ranji Trophy cricketer Subhadeep Ghosh has taken charge as the interim fielding coach for the men's senior national side following the exit of T. Dilip. Saikia emphasized that the current appointment remains short-term, noting that Ghosh's work will be thoroughly appraised following the upcoming series against New Zealand. Should the performance prove constructive, his assignment could be extended through the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa.
