The excitement of the five-match T20 series between India and New Zealand is officially underway. During the opening encounter played in Christchurch, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, when the playing eleven was announced at the toss, many supporters were left disappointed as Vaibhav Suryavanshi's name was once again missing from the roster. He had previously also missed out on selection during the series against West Indies.
A Brief Substitution on the Field
Although he did not get a chance to bat or bowl during the fixture, a moment during the final over of the innings brought a surprise twist for the spectators. Captain Shreyas Iyer called upon Vaibhav Suryavanshi to take the field as a substitute fielder for the very last over of the New Zealand innings. While his stint on the ground lasted for just one over before the innings concluded, his sudden appearance quickly became a talking point among cricket followers.
