The Indian women's cricket team delivered a dominant performance in the third and final match against Zimbabwe, securing a convincing 8-wicket victory. With this resounding win, India completed a clean sweep, taking the series 3-0. Invited to bat first, the Zimbabwe team struggled against a disciplined Indian bowling attack and was bowled out for 131 runs in 39.5 overs. In response, India chased down the target comfortably, reaching 132 for the loss of just 2 wickets in a mere 17 overs.
Vaishnavi Sharma Leads the Bowling Attack
Spearheading the Indian bowling unit, Vaishnavi Sharma wreaked havoc on the opposition batters. Vaishnavi delivered an exceptional spell, conceding just 39 runs in her 10 overs while picking up 5 crucial wickets. Her lethal bowling prevented Zimbabwe from putting up any sort of a challenging total on the board. Supporting her well, Sayali Satghare and Kranti Gaud claimed 2 wickets each for India. Additionally, one Zimbabwe batter was run out, further compounding the batting side's misery.
Zimbabwe Batting Lineup Collapses
Batting first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe suffered early setbacks as the Indian bowlers maintained tight control. Modester Mupachikwa put up the highest resistance for Zimbabwe, scoring 37 runs from 48 balls. Apart from her, team captain Josephine Nkomo contributed 35 runs off 67 deliveries. Barring these two contributions, the rest of the Zimbabwe batting order faltered significantly against the sustained pressure of the Indian bowling lineup, failing to build any meaningful partnerships.
India Recovers Quickly During the Run Chase
Chasing a modest target, India experienced a shaky start as opening batter Yastika Bhatia was dismissed without scoring. Harleen Deol also failed to make a significant impact, getting out for 19 runs off 19 balls. However, after the early loss of two wickets, Shafali Verma and Pratika Rawal took total control of the crease and steered the team away from any further trouble. Shafali remained unbeaten with a blistering 51 runs off 26 deliveries, while Pratika scored 59 runs from 56 balls. This stellar partnership ensured India crossed the finish line with 33 overs to spare.
