Aryaveer Sehwag, son of former legendary Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag, has caught the attention of the cricketing world with a stellar performance in domestic cricket. Playing for Delhi against Chandigarh in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, the right-handed batsman displayed exceptional shot-making all around the ground to register a massive score.
A Masterclass Knock Under Pressure
During this impressive outing, Aryaveer faced 143 deliveries and hammered 173 runs with aggressive intent. His remarkable innings was decorated with 19 boundaries and 8 maximums. Powered by his captain's knock, Delhi managed to post a total of 289 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 50 overs, though the team ultimately fell short of a win as Chandigarh chased down the target.
Journey Through Under-19 Cricket
The 18-year-old Aryaveer was named captain of the 16-member Delhi squad for the tournament that commenced in Visakhapatnam on October 8. Earlier in September, he made his under-19 debut against Australia, where he scored a total of 109 runs across three innings in the youth ODI series. In the rain-affected opening match won by India by 7 runs, he contributed 28 runs from 26 balls. He followed it up with a 47-run knock in the second ODI, missing a half-century by just three runs, and scored 34 runs in the final fixture. He also gained prior exposure playing for West Delhi Lions in the Delhi Premier League.
