In connection with irregular plot allotments located in Sector-23 of Gurugram, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has taken strict legal action by registering two separate criminal cases against a senior Indian Administrative Service officer and several other individuals. Official details regarding this development were shared by a senior Anti-Corruption Bureau official on Monday. This major legal scrutiny surfaced precisely around the time the officer reached the day of his retirement from active government service.
Interim Protection Granted by High Court
On Monday, coinciding with his retirement day, the officer also received a measure of legal relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. An assurance was presented before the court stating that if custodial interrogation or arrest of the petitioner becomes necessary during the ongoing investigation, a formal notice will be served to him at least seven days in advance.
The senior Anti-Corruption Bureau official elaborated that the first First Information Report was formally registered on August 26 against four accused persons. This initial group of accused prominently includes IAS officer D. Suresh. Following this, based on a complaint lodged by a local resident, a second FIR was registered on August 27. This subsequent case ropes in the IAS officer alongside four officials and employees belonging to the Haryana Urban Development Authority, as well as three other individuals. Among these three extra names are a local property dealer and a local politician.
At the Center of the Sector-23 Plot Re-allotment Controversy
According to the senior Gurugram Anti-Corruption Bureau official, the core of these FIRs revolves around the irregular re-allotment of two specific plots situated in Sector-23 of Gurugram. These plots had been allotted previously, but after being taken back, they were re-allotted to other parties. Investigators noted that these controversial allocations took place during the tenure when D. Suresh served as the Chief Administrator of the Haryana Urban Development Authority. Authorities have confirmed that formal FIRs are now officially registered and a comprehensive, detailed investigation into the entire matter is actively continuing.
