Jaipur police have dismantled an interstate counterfeit currency racket operating across borders, seizing fake notes worth ₹4,30,500 and impounding two luxury vehicles. The joint operation was executed by the Bajaj Nagar police station team alongside the Crime Special Team (CST). Among the four individuals arrested in connection with the crime is Sahil Choudhary, the son of senior Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee leader R.C. Choudhary. Investigators revealed that the fake currency shipment had been smuggled into the city directly from Bangladesh and was intended to be circulated in the market during the upcoming municipal elections in Rajasthan.
Bangladesh-Based Racket Linked to Jaipur Counterfeit Supply
Police investigations into the crime network revealed that the counterfeit currency was managed and dispatched by the principal mastermind, Aman Rana. Originally a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, Aman Rana is currently operating the illicit syndicate from foreign soil in Bangladesh. Through this cross-border illegal channel, high-quality fake bank notes were systematically transported from Bangladesh into Jaipur. Law enforcement officers noted that the timing of the delivery was specifically coordinated to exploit the financial momentum surrounding the upcoming municipal corporation elections, where cash transactions tend to spike significantly.
Four Arrested Including Son of Senior Congress Leader
During the crackdown, law enforcement personnel took four suspects into custody: Anshul, Sahil Choudhary, Priyanshu, and Aakash. In addition to recovering the ₹4,30,500 sum in counterfeit Indian currency notes, police impounded two high-end SUVs, a Mahindra Scorpio and a Toyota Fortuner, which were actively utilized by the syndicate to transport and distribute fake bills. Highlighting the high-profile nature of the case, accused Sahil Choudhary is the son of R.C. Choudhary, who holds major political positions as the General Secretary and Chief Spokesperson of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC), while also serving as a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
Plot to Pump Counterfeit Cash into Upcoming Municipal Elections
The primary objective behind bringing such a massive batch of fake currency into Jaipur was its strategic deployment during local body polls. Special Police Commissioner Om Prakash confirmed that the four accused were apprehended while preparing to distribute the illegal notes. Authorities are actively questioning the suspects to ascertain whether previous consignments of counterfeit currency had already reached Jaipur or other districts in Rajasthan. Police are currently mapping out the local handlers and agents who were designated to receive and pump these fake notes into daily commercial activities and election-related expenses.
Legal Action Under BNS and Political Reactions
The Jaipur police have formally registered a criminal case under Sections 178, 179, and 180 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), initiating an in-depth financial and criminal investigation. Law enforcement agencies expect further cash recoveries as interrogations of the detained suspects continue. Meanwhile, the development has sparked political waves in Rajasthan. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Madan Rathore responded to the arrest of the Congress spokesperson's son by emphasizing the extreme gravity of the situation, calling for a thorough probe into national security implications.
