Guwahati: Bank of India's Guwahati Zonal Office organized comprehensive vigilance awareness programs across more than 30 branches spanning all seven Northeastern states, operating under the framework of the Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2026 guided by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Grassroots Outreach and Community Engagement
The events were conducted under the guiding theme “Probity for Prosperity” with the core objective of promoting honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability, alongside safe banking practices and sound financial discipline. Many of these sessions were structured as Gram Sabha meetings and active community outreach programs, ensuring that essential messaging reached populations at the grassroots level.
Focus on Cyber Crime Prevention and Digital Safety
Bank officials engaged directly with villagers and local residents, discussing ethical conduct, responsible borrowing habits, prudent money management, and the critical importance of utilizing exclusively authorized banking channels. Cybercrime prevention and digital financial security received particular attention during the sessions, where participants were educated about online frauds, malicious phishing links, fraudulent calls, one-time password scams, and UPI-related deceptions.
Promoting Responsible Financial Habits
Attendees were strongly cautioned against the severe dangers of sharing confidential banking credentials and were advised to maintain constant vigilance while executing digital transactions, reporting any suspicious activities promptly. Furthermore, the sessions warned citizens against fraudulent financial schemes while encouraging disciplined financial habits. Bank representatives emphasized that the extensive participation of over 30 branches reflects an ongoing commitment to extending vigilance beyond physical premises and fostering a regional culture rooted in integrity, collective responsibility, and sustainable financial awareness.
