A freak and tragic road mishap claimed the life of a 22-year-old youth along the Thakurdwara-Moradabad highway near Longi Khurd on Monday afternoon. The fatal incident occurred around 1:30 pm when the rear wheel of a fast-moving dumper suddenly detached from the vehicle and hurtled straight into an oncoming motorcycle. The impact of the runaway wheel proved instantly fatal for the motorcyclist, identified as Ubais Alam. Following the collision, the dumper driver abandoned the commercial vehicle on the highway and fled the area before law enforcement arrived.

Ubais Alam, son of Shaukat Ali and a resident of Korba village under the Bhojpur police station limits, was dedicatedly preparing for government service exams. To better concentrate on his upcoming examinations, he had traveled to Thakurdwara on Monday morning to inspect and finalize a rented room. Having completed his search around 1:30 pm, he was riding back toward his native village, unaware that a severe mechanical failure on an adjacent heavy vehicle would cut his journey short.

As Alam reached the Longi Khurd section of the Thakurdwara-Moradabad highway, a speeding dumper operating on the stretch suffered a sudden mechanical detachment of its rear tire assembly. Propelled by sheer momentum and high speed, the loose wheel spun out of control across the road and collided squarely with Alam's two-wheeler. The violent blow tossed the rider onto the asphalt, resulting in catastrophic injuries that led to his immediate death at the spot. Passersby quickly gathered at the scene, alerted the authorities, and assisted arriving police teams, who took custody of the body and transported it for post-mortem analysis.
