From Suspected Contamination to a Murder Inquiry
The tragedy unfolded on August 26, claiming the lives of three siblings aged two and a half, six, and five years old. Early reports indicated that the young victims had consumed sweet treats brought to the residence, after which their health rapidly deteriorated, culminating in their deaths. At the outset, local authorities registered the incident under the suspicion of accidental food contamination.
However, forensic scrutiny and contextual facts quickly undermined the contaminated food theory. Inquisitive investigators questioned why a commercially purchased batch of sweets would affect only the three minor children in that single household. Inquiries confirmed that numerous other customers had bought items from the identical confectioner without reporting any adverse medical symptoms. Furthermore, adult occupants of the same house remained entirely unscathed. These glaring discrepancies prompted officers to abandon the accidental poisoning theory and pursue foul play.

Sharing details regarding the development, Senior Superintendent of Police Ravjot Grewal explained that the incident initially had all the hallmarks of food poisoning, but the simultaneous deaths of three young siblings from one family warranted exhaustive examination.
The police chief noted that the inquiry uncovered the mother's alleged relationship alongside clear indications of a premeditated conspiracy to kill the children. In an unrelated case from the same district, authorities have initiated proceedings after an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her paternal uncle.
