Law enforcement authorities in Southeast Delhi have secured a critical breakthrough following a grave assault on a minor girl. During a late-night operation in the Amar Colony area, police personnel apprehended one of the suspects following an encounter. The arrested individual has been identified as Asif, who works at the local Okhla vegetable market. Security teams have intensified search efforts and are carrying out raids across multiple locations to track down the remaining two suspects who fled the scene.
Incident Followed Visit to Kalkaji Temple
The horrifying ordeal unfolded on Monday evening when a 17-year-old girl visited the Kalkaji temple along with her 17-year-old male companion. The duo arrived at the shrine around 7:00 PM to offer prayers. After completing their visit, they walked over to an adjacent public park at approximately 7:30 PM. While they were seated in the park, three unidentified men, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years of age, approached them unexpectedly.
Suspects Impersonated Law Enforcement Officers
Upon confronting the two teenagers, the three men falsely claimed to be police personnel and began threatening them with intimidation tactics. Exploiting fear and deception, the men coerced the teenagers before allegedly subjecting the 17-year-old girl to a gang rape inside the park. The perpetrators immediately fled the vicinity after carrying out the heinous act.
PCR Distress Call and Emergency Response
Around 8:45 PM, a distress call was placed to the Police Control Room from the park, reporting the sexual assault against the minor. Police units arrived promptly at the location to take control of the situation and immediately transferred the victim to a medical facility for examination and care. Authorities subsequently registered a criminal case invoking provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act alongside other relevant sections of the law.
Investigation and Encounter in Amar Colony
To establish the identities of the culprits, investigative teams began scrutinizing CCTV footage from surveillance devices positioned inside the park and along adjacent street routes. Officials also questioned witnesses, visitors, and people present in the neighborhood to piece together the sequence of events. These investigative leads pointed officers toward Amar Colony, where an exchange of fire took place during the night, culminating in the apprehension of Asif while operations to locate the remaining two men proceed at full pace.
