Following the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon, weather patterns across the national capital and adjoining areas have begun to transition. Early mornings and late evenings carry a mild coolness, even as bright afternoon sunshine keeps daytime conditions notably warm. However, this stable phase is expected to give way soon, with atmospheric changes bringing precipitation back to Delhi and the National Capital Region.
Dry Conditions and Clear Skies Over the Weekend
Saturday witnessed ample sunshine alongside gentle breezes across the city. Similar clear conditions are anticipated for Sunday, October 4, with skies remaining largely cloudless. Temperatures during Sunday are projected to range between a maximum of 34°C to 36°C and a minimum of 23°C to 25°C. In most localities, both daytime highs and night-time lows will sit higher than normal seasonal averages, accompanied by daytime surface winds blowing at 20 to 25 km/h.
Dry weather will persist into Monday as well, with clear skies remaining dominant throughout the day. Mercury levels are expected to hover between 34°C and 36°C for the maximum and 22°C to 24°C for the minimum, continuing the trend of above-normal readings. Winds on Monday are likely to sustain speeds between 15 and 20 km/h during the daytime hours.
Rain and Gusty Winds Expected from Tuesday
Conditions are forecast to deteriorate starting October 6, affecting Delhi, Noida, and the wider NCR belt. A spell of rainfall is predicted across the capital region from October 6 through October 8, with Tuesday and Wednesday seeing the most noticeable precipitation activity.
The impact of this weather system will extend across northwestern plains beyond Delhi itself. Rainfall activities are expected across parts of Haryana, Punjab, and western Uttar Pradesh during the same timeframe. Alongside the wet spell, sustained winds reaching speeds of around 20 km/h will sweep through the region, bringing a break from the lingering afternoon warmth.
