Law enforcement authorities in the national capital have launched a double-barreled crackdown against absconders and organized crime syndicates. A 48-hour special drive conducted across the West District led to the arrest of dozens of fleeing criminals, while a separate armed encounter in Rohini resulted in the capture of three sharpshooters affiliated with a high-profile criminal gang.
48-Hour Raids Under Operation Chakravyuh
To track down court-declared absconders and fleeing offenders, a special 48-hour drive titled 'Operation Chakravyuh' was executed between September 5 and September 6. The initiative extended beyond the borders of the national capital to target hidden suspects. Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi), 61 dedicated police teams conducted synchronized raids across multiple locations.
During this extensive drive, law enforcement personnel verified the status of criminals associated with 175 pending cases. A total of 149 declared absconders were traced during the operations, out of which 49 individuals were found to be already serving time in judicial custody for other offenses, while 19 others were confirmed to be deceased. Additional DCP (West District) Abhishek Gupta stated that the core focus of the drive was identifying, verifying, and apprehending long-absconding criminals. In total, 175 criminal cases were resolved through this drive, while the status of 161 other individuals was systematically verified.
Rohini Encounter Nabs Bountied Sharpshooters
In a separate operation reported on September 9, police personnel apprehended three alleged members of the Himanshu Bhau gang in connection with the murder of a property dealer in Narela. Two of the captured suspects carried a bounty of Rs 50,000 on their heads.
According to DCP Rohini Shashank Jaiswal, police received actionable intelligence regarding the movement of the wanted suspects through the area to commit another crime. Acting on the tip-off, officers laid a strategic trap and challenged the suspects upon arrival. The suspects immediately opened fire on the police party, discharging approximately 11 to 12 rounds. Police teams retaliated in self-defense by firing six rounds. Following the exchange of gunfire, all three sharpshooters were subdued and taken into custody.
