According to the release, Delhi Police had registered a total of 13 FIRs related to the NEET UG protests up until the evening of 29 July. The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi conducted thorough deliberations on these cases in light of the landmark ruling delivered by the Supreme Court on 28 July 2026 in the case of Shailendra Mani Tripathi vs Union of India and Others. Following comprehensive review, the public interest order received final authorization from the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi before being formally promulgated.

- Complete Halt on Adverse Action: All police authorities within Delhi have been strictly barred from initiating or continuing any adverse punitive proceedings against peaceful protesters. The government explicitly stated that the matter is considered closed and no fresh legal actions will be instituted on these grounds in the future.
- Exclusion of Individuals with Criminal Antecedents: Relief under this decision is strictly reserved for general student protesters. Individuals possessing a prior criminal background will not be eligible for this immunity, and legal proceedings against them will proceed in accordance with Supreme Court mandates.
- Fast-Track Review and Immediate Release: Cases of all individuals apprehended or taken into custody during the agitation will undergo rapid case-by-case reviews. Qualified detainees will be set free immediately upon verification of their eligibility.
