The incredible star power of South cinema icon Rajinikanth is currently driving audiences into a frenzy with his latest release, Jailer 2 review (2026). Ever since hitting the silver screens, this movie has maintained an unstoppable momentum at the ticket windows, pulling in massive numbers every single day. Within its opening week alone, the feature has shattered multiple box office records to become the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2026.
Stellar Box Office Numbers and Global Reach
According to figures shared by the trade tracking portal Sacnilk, Jailer 2 has accumulated a net domestic collection of 317.20 करोड़ inside India across its first 7 days. Meanwhile, the international markets have contributed an impressive 205 करोड़ to its overseas gross. Combined together, the worldwide box office collection of the movie reached an astounding 576.45 करोड़ before the conclusion of its opening week.
Climbing Up the Tamil Cinema Rankings
Achieving this massive financial milestone within just 7 days has propelled Jailer 2 to become the fourth highest-grossing film in the history of Tamil cinema. Along this rapid ascent, it has comfortably surpassed the lifetime earnings of Mani Ratnam's acclaimed project Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Lokesh Kanagaraj's film Coolie. Furthermore, the action entertainer has outpaced the 20-day total collection of 560 करोड़ generated by Ajay Devgn's Drishyam: The Conclusion.
Where the Movie Stands Among Top Grossers
Looking at the broader list of highest-grossing films worldwide, Dhurandhar: The Revenge holds the top spot with a staggering collection of 1813 करोड़. Following closely behind, Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has firmly established itself in the second position with 576 करोड़, while Drishyam: The Conclusion stands at third place with 560 करोड़. Rounding out the top rankings, Hanuman Ansh and Border 2 occupy the fourth and fifth spots with 451 करोड़ and 450 करोड़ respectively.
Festive Advantage and Solo Release Boost
The theatrical run of Jailer 2 received a massive boost from the festive season of Dussehra and Navratri. Additionally, the absence of any major competing solo release in theatres provided a direct advantage to the veteran star's project. Even on weekdays, large crowds of moviegoers continue to throng cinema halls, ensuring that the box office momentum remains strong. Industry experts anticipate an even larger jump in collections over the upcoming weekend.
All-Time Tamil Cinema Box Office Standings
In the exclusive list of top-earning Tamil films of all time, 2.0 still maintains its lead at the number one position with a monumental collection of 691 करोड़. Thalapathy Vijay's Leo stands right behind at second place with 605 करोड़, while Rajinikanth's previous venture Jailer occupies the third spot with 604 करोड़. Jailer 2 has swiftly climbed to the fourth position with its 576 करोड़ haul, leaving Coolie at fifth place with 518 करोड़.
Cast, Crew and Narrative Continuity
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 has been produced under the banner of Sun Pictures by Kalanithi Maran. The cast features Ramya Krishnan reprising her well-known role alongside fresh additions like SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan. The storyline picks up right from where the predecessor concluded, featuring the retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian as he once again strives to protect his family from looming dangers.
