Cruel public evaluation of women artists regarding their bodily changes, appearance, and personal milestones has become an unfortunate hallmark of internet spaces. Addressing this toxic virtual culture while marking her presence in the cyber-crime thriller series ‘Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story’, actress Vidya Malvade pointed out that personal vitriol reveals everything about the person posting it and nothing about the target. In her view, people projecting unsolicited negativity merely put their own character and inner turmoil on public display.
Cruel words reveal the speaker rather than the subject
Reflecting on why female performers encounter constant ridicule over maternal weight gain, changing facial features, or lifestyle decisions, Vidya Malvade broke the dynamic down into two distinct perspectives. She maintained that abusive remarks reflect the viewer's skewed lens rather than any failing in the person being judged. When anonymous users post bitter remarks, the flaw resides entirely within their own psychological baggage, not in the individual on the receiving end.
Conversely, she noted that kindness and encouragement originate from within a healthy persona. Those harboring positivity naturally extend supportive comments, proving that written expression is an accurate mirror of one's mindset. Explaining her personal defense mechanism against hostile remarks, she stated, “I try not to let other people's opinions define who I am.” According to her, safeguarding self-worth requires refusing to measure oneself against the fickle sentiments of internet strangers.
Wisdom from Richa Chadha and distancing from toxic spaces
Drawing on an observation previously made by fellow industry peer Richa Chadha, Vidya Malvade reiterated the futility of getting rattled by keyboard critics. She recalled the principle that words written by someone sitting miles away in anonymity should never be allowed to dictate one's peace of mind. At the end of the day, harsh comments are just baseless personal opinions rather than definitive truths.
She stressed how deeply miserable an individual must be inside to spend their time drafting hateful posts about others. Recognizing that intense toxicity drives such behavior, she advised that stepping away and staying emotionally detached from such individuals remains the healthiest recourse for anyone navigating the public sphere.
Venturing into the micro drama space
Alongside speaking up on digital etiquette, Vidya Malvade has expanded her professional repertoire by stepping into the micro drama format with ‘Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story’. The suspense project focuses on modern cyber fraud techniques and deceptive psychological manipulation, and it is currently streaming on the Story TV app.
The supporting ensemble for this digital crime series includes several key performers who bring the tense storyline to life. Alongside Vidya Malvade, the cast features Sandeep Arora, Priyanshi Tripathi, Pooja Jha, Ayushi Tyagi, Sheetal Tejwani, Ashok K. Jha, and Yogesh Pawar playing pivotal characters as the drama navigates the menacing realities of virtual extortion.
