Traditional horror stories usually rely on supernatural entities terrorizing unsuspecting mortals, but a fresh digital comedy web series has turned that familiar formula entirely on its head. Streaming on the RDC TV Channel on YouTube, the daily show titled Saas, Bahu Aur Bhoot introduces audiences to a long-imprisoned spirit whose dream of freedom turns into an overwhelming ordeal when he ends up bound to an intensely quarrelsome Indian household. Instead of haunting the premises, the ghost finds himself begging for relief from non-stop domestic turmoil.
The Mystery of Deemak Dhaam and the Crimson Bottle
The backstory dates back to the year 1976 inside a desolate, cobweb-covered mansion named Deemak Dhaam. Tucked away in a dark, forgotten corner of this dilapidated estate sat an eye-catching red glass bottle holding a helpless ghost who had remained locked inside for 40 years. Day and night, the trapped spirit desperately pleaded for deliverance, making a grand promise that whoever set him free would receive seven consecutive years of his unquestioning subservience and service. For four full decades, no living soul arrived to hear his cries, until the Salgaonkar family finally walked through the doors of the mansion.
The Salgaonkar Arrival and the Locked Room
The newly arrived Salgaonkar household consisted of four main members: a sharp-tongued, domineering mother-in-law, an equally quick-witted and unapologetic daughter-in-law, a mild-mannered father-in-law, and a son constantly crushed between the two opposing women. Accompanying them was the property's longtime domestic help. The moment the family set foot inside the building, the signature bickering between the two women erupted instantly. Amid the chaos, both women spotted a mysterious corner room secured by a heavy lock.
The family servant repeatedly intervened and cautioned them, stating that the owner had strictly forbidden anyone from unlocking or entering that space. However, neither the clever mother-in-law nor the scheming daughter-in-law was willing to listen. Managing to seize the key, both barged inside the restricted area. Among the discarded junk, their eyes caught the attractive red bottle, immediately triggering their greed. An argument over ownership quickly escalated into a physical struggle, causing the bottle to slip, crash onto the hard floor, and shatter completely.
From Celebrated Freedom to Unbearable Domestic Chaos
A thick plume of smoke billowed out as the four-decade-old spirit finally tasted freedom. Thrilled by his liberation, the ghost boldly declared his vow, reminding the women that he was now their dedicated servant for the next seven years. Little did the supernatural entity realize that his release would mark the beginning of his greatest regret. Immediately, the house erupted into full-blown warfare filled with biting insults, slammed utensils, and relentless squabbles that left the ghost utterly terrified.
Rather than scaring the living, the spirit ended up trembling in horror at the wrath of the two women. In a desperate bid to protect his sanity, the supernatural being was seen ducking behind the living room sofa and scrambling on top of the refrigerator to stay out of the crossfire. Meanwhile, the father-in-law, son, and house servant only added fuel to the brewing chaos.
Eccentric Characters and Creative Team
As the pandemonium escalated beyond control, the situation demanded external intervention, leading to the entrance of a stern police inspector named Saudamini alongside an eccentric occult practitioner. Their dramatic appearances pushed the absurd situation into nonstop hilarity. Running between 20 and 25 minutes per episode, the light-hearted web show broadcasts every evening at 7 PM on the RDC TV Channel on YouTube.
The series is helmed by director Sanket Shrirang Chakravarty and backed by producer Rajesh Ranshinge, who together subverted standard haunted house clichés into an approachable family comedy. Actresses Paran Gala and Prachi Ghildiyal drive the story through their fiery on-screen clash, while Pankaj Upadhyay delivers physical comedy as the frightened, overwhelmed spirit struggling under the weight of household drama.
