A high-stakes box office clash is playing out across Indian theatres as two major releases navigate their theatrical runs. South star Nani's latest action thriller, The Paradise, has experienced a sharp downward curve during regular working weekdays after an electrifying start. In contrast, Sidharth Malhotra's mythologically driven enterprise, The One, concluded its seven-day run on a firm footing by crossing the pivotal fifty-crore threshold on domestic soil.
Nani's The Paradise: Rapid Opening Followed by an Eighth-Day Low
The Paradise set fresh career benchmarks for Nani right out of the gate. Film enthusiasts rushed to early screenings, delivering 11.60 crore from pre-opening preview slots on Wednesday. The following Thursday marked the official full release, pulling in an impressive 34.65 crore across circuits. That combined initial momentum reached 46.25 crore, establishing the venture as the biggest opening project in the actor's filmography to date.
The momentum held strong across the first weekend. Friday registered collections of 14.90 crore, which climbed slightly on Saturday to hit 15.25 crore. Sunday maintained solid theatre footfalls to garner 15.70 crore. However, once the regular workweek took over on Monday, receipts began tapering off steadily through Wednesday, bottoming out at 3.4 crore by the seventh day.
Domestic Century Achieved Alongside Global Milestone
By 11 PM on its eighth day of release this Thursday, the action spectacle collected 3.30 crore, representing its lowest single-day haul so far. Nevertheless, the total domestic accumulation has reached 108.20 crore. On the global stage, ticket sales across territories have pushed total overseas and domestic receipts to 158.60 crore.
Reaching this domestic century marks an important milestone, as The Paradise became the first film starring Nani to breach the 100 crore mark in India. His earlier releases, Hit: The Third Case and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, had both generated significant buzz and approached the century mark closely without quite crossing the boundary. The current offering released across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu markets, with the Telugu language version driving the overwhelming majority of theatre revenue.
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's The One Demonstrates Steady Grit
Simultaneously completing its inaugural week in cinemas, the fantasy horror-thriller The One, headlined by Sidharth Malhotra alongside Tamannaah Bhatia, managed to carve out steady space. Despite receiving varied evaluations from reviewers and audiences alike, the project sustained steady traction after a decent start. On its seventh day this Thursday, the movie added 4.40 crore by 11 PM. While that represents its leanest single-day turnover, the title has accumulated a net sum of 53.50 crore nationwide.
Weekly Trajectory Amid Stiff Theatrical Counter-Programming
The One faced formidable counter-programming at the turnstiles, including Nani's high-octane spectacle and Marvel's theatrical re-release Avengers: Endgame Encore. Starting with an opening-day return of 8 crore, the film experienced a powerful weekend surge to collect 14.35 crore on Sunday, marking its peak daily earnings.
Remarkably, the weekdays exhibited noteworthy resilience. Monday brought in 5.25 crore, followed by an unexpected midweek rise on Tuesday to 6 crore. After earning 4.25 crore on Wednesday, Thursday's 4.40 crore tally ensured the film outpaced day eight of The Paradise and comfortably cleared the 50 crore net mark within seven days.
