A wave of immense devotion has swept across the Braj region as Mathura and Vrindavan celebrate Hariyali Teej alongside Independence Day. Devotees gathered in large numbers at the famous Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan early in the morning for the auspicious Mangala Darshan. On this festive occasion, Lord Banke Bihariji has been adorned in striking green attire and seated alongside Radha Rani on a grand swing crafted from 1000 kg of gold and silver.
Grand Green Attire Worth Rs 8 Lakh and Elaborate Floral Decor
The centerpiece of this year's Teej celebrations is the exquisite outfit worn by the deity. Banke Bihariji has been dressed in a special green garment valued at Rs 8 lakh, complemented by fine traditional ornaments. The entire temple complex has been magnificently decorated with fresh green leaves and vibrant flowers, surprising visiting devotees with its splendor. Adding to the visual beauty, four figures of sakhis (female companions) are placed around the gold and silver hindola. Pilgrims from across India and abroad have arrived in Vrindavan to catch a glimpse of the deities on this unique swing.
Darshan in Child Form, Offerings of 56 Bhog and Ghevar
Lord Krishna and Radha Rani are presenting themselves to worshippers in their charming child forms (bal roop). As part of the festive rituals, a grand feast comprising 56 delicacies (56 Bhog) along with traditional Ghevar sweets was offered to the deities. This ceremonial hindola carries a deeply cherished tradition. According to temple customs, when Radha Rani gets tired from swinging and her adornments need adjusting, the deities are taken to a restful couch situated just behind the main swing. There, Lord Krishna tenderly arranges Radha Rani's hair and gently presses her feet to ease her fatigue.
