A powerful explosion tore through a house in the Hans Nagar area of Haryana's Rewari district on Sunday evening, leaving five people, including four members of one family, badly burnt. One of the injured is in critical condition. The blast was so intense that it shattered the doors and window panes of the house and badly damaged its heavy iron main gate, sending panic through the neighbourhood as residents rushed to the spot to help.
Blast Happened While Daughter Was Ironing Clothes, Several People Were Inside
According to information from the police, the incident took place at the home of Satbir Chauhan, a Hans Nagar resident and a retired Indian Army serviceman. On Sunday evening, Satbir Chauhan's 23 year old daughter Tanu was ironing clothes inside the house when a loud explosion suddenly ripped through the building. At the time of the blast, the house had Satbir Chauhan himself, his wife Madhu, daughter Tanu, a three year old relative named Khushi, and their neighbour Jai Bhagwan present. Jai Bhagwan serves with the Central Reserve Police Force, or CRPF, and happened to be at Satbir Chauhan's house when the explosion occurred. All five were caught in the blast, with Tanu suffering the most severe burns of the group.
Critically Injured Sent to Different Hospitals for Treatment
As soon as the blast occurred, local residents rushed to help and got all the injured to the local civil hospital for first aid. However, once doctors examined the severity of the injuries, they decided to refer the patients to bigger medical facilities without delay. Tanu, who suffered the most severe burns, was referred to PGI Rohtak, where she remains under treatment. Retired serviceman Satbir Chauhan was sent to Gurugram for further treatment, while neighbour and CRPF jawan Jai Bhagwan was admitted to the Army Hospital in Delhi. In some relief, Satbir Chauhan's wife Madhu and the three year old Khushi suffered relatively minor injuries and were treated locally.
Cause Still Unclear, Forensic Team Called In
Rewari police reached the spot as soon as they were informed and sealed off the entire area as a safety precaution, both to secure the site for investigation and to ensure no further harm to residents. However, the exact cause behind such a powerful explosion inside the house has not yet been established. Given the seriousness of the case, a special team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, or FSL, has been called in to examine the site. The team is now working to determine, based on evidence gathered at the spot, exactly what triggered such a strong blast inside the house. Local police are also continuing their own inquiries in parallel, in an effort to establish the real cause of the incident as quickly as possible and give the family some clarity on what actually happened inside their home.
