In Yamunanagar, Haryana, the municipal corporation has executed a major demolition drive against illegal construction located within Atmapuri colony of the Hamida area. A residential property belonging to a family linked to drug trafficking was pulled down using a heavy JCB machine. A massive contingent of police personnel along with a duty magistrate remained stationed at the site throughout the operation to maintain law and order. Before initiating the demolition of the structure, women and children residing inside were safely escorted out, their household belongings were cleared, and the entire proceeding was captured on video.
Heavy police deployment and prior notices
According to official details, the municipal corporation team arrived at Atmapuri colony accompanied by police forces. Administrative officials stated that the building had been constructed in blatant violation of established rules. The individuals concerned were served notices well in advance and were given ample opportunity to submit their replies. Following this, speaking orders were passed and demolition was carried out strictly as per procedural guidelines.
No stay order presented during the demolition
Duty Magistrate Surender Dahiya explained that notices regarding the unauthorized construction had been issued earlier. After completing thorough investigations and required procedures, actions are being taken in cases where there is no active stay order from a court. During the operation, women present inside the premises raised objections. A woman named Mustari pleaded with the officials not to demolish the house, claiming that a petition filed by the family was still pending in court. However, no official stay order halting the demolition could be produced at the spot.
Multiple cases under the NDPS Act
Investigating officer Manoj Kumar stated that scrutiny of official documents confirmed the construction violated regulatory norms. The action was executed in line with legal protocols following due notices and speaking orders. According to the administration, a total of nine houses have been identified for unauthorized construction across the Hamida region. While some of these cases have secured relief from the courts, actions are continuing against those lacking any legal stay. Police records indicate that Naeem and Mustaqim face a total of eight cases registered under the NDPS Act. The operation was supervised by Duty Magistrate Surender Dahiya, Municipal Corporation ATP Darshan Lal, and Station House Officer Manoj Kumar.
