In a dramatic turn of events during the investigation of a hit-and-run case involving a woman biker in Gurugram, the arrested accused attempted to flee from police custody on Tuesday. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect asked for permission to urinate and subsequently tried to run away. However, he suffered minor injuries after falling down while attempting to escape. He was promptly taken to a hospital for primary medical treatment. The accused has been identified as 33-year-old Kalyan Bainsla, a resident of Chandhut in Palwal, Haryana, who was apprehended by the authorities between Dausa and Rajgarh in Rajasthan.
Arrest in Rajasthan and Escape Attempt
Gurugram police stated that a dedicated crime branch team had been tracking the suspect and finally located him in Rajasthan. On Tuesday, the team nabbed Kalyan between Dausa and Rajgarh. Right after his apprehension, the accused requested permission to relieve himself. Once granted, he seized the opportunity to sprint away, but did not get far before stumbling and falling to the ground. Police confirmed that he sustained minor bruises from the fall and was immediately rushed to a hospital for first aid.
Vehicle Recovered and Accomplice Detained
Cracking down further on the case, authorities successfully recovered the car that was used to hit the woman biker. Investigators revealed that the vehicle is registered under the name of the accused's friend. In addition to this, the police have also detained Kalyan's relative and alleged associate, Lavnish, in connection with the incident. Law enforcement officials are currently interrogating both individuals to uncover further details surrounding the episode.
Viral Video Exposed the Incident
The entire episode came to light when the victimized woman biker posted a video on social media. The footage captured a car driver ramming into her vehicle along the prominent Golf Course Road in Gurugram. The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of September 13. Since the video clearly displayed the face of the person behind the wheel, the police utilized it to establish the identity of the culprit and launch a manhunt.
According to the police, after the video went viral across platforms, Kalyan Bainsla briefly surfaced in front of the media to present his side of the story. Following this public appearance, he switched off his mobile phone and allegedly went into hiding. Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the police registered a formal case at the Sector-56 police station and began combing through numerous CCTV footage recordings to track down his whereabouts.
Severe Legal Charges Added
Based on a thorough review of CCTV evidence, the police have invoked Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the ongoing case, which pertains to an attempt to murder. Furthermore, following the victim's official statement, Sections 78 and 79 of the BNS have also been incorporated into the case file. The police are now preparing to present the accused before a court to seek his remand for further questioning, emphasizing that the investigation remains active.
