A shocking incident from Haryana's Panchkula has ended with the very person who allegedly tried to set a neighbour's home ablaze losing her own life in the blaze. The case unfolded at the Ashiyana Complex in Sector-28.
Where it happened and who was involved
A woman named Shanti, a resident of house number-73 in the Ashiyana Complex, is said to have been mentally unwell. Directly across from her lived a family headed by Jamshed, and it is this household that became the target of the alleged attack. According to accounts, Shanti entered the family's house and doused it with petrol, intending to set it on fire.
Door latched from outside, then the situation turned
Eyewitness accounts suggest Shanti first bolted the door of Jamshed's house from the outside, apparently so that those inside could not escape, before pouring petrol indoors. But in the process, the fire suddenly erupted and engulfed Shanti herself. Fortunately, the family members present inside the house managed to save themselves and escaped unharmed.
Panic in the neighbourhood, residents douse the flames
As the flames rose, panic spread through the surrounding area. Locals who rushed to the spot quickly threw water on Shanti in an attempt to put out the fire, but by then she had suffered severe burns. She was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sector-6, and after doctors found her condition critical, she was referred to PGI Chandigarh for further treatment. She died there while undergoing treatment.
