A horrifying incident occurred in the NIT-3 area of Faridabad, Haryana, on Saturday evening when a seventh-grade schoolboy was viciously attacked by a domestic pitbull dog. The young boy had stepped out on his bicycle and was chatting with a friend outside a nearby residence when the aggressive canine suddenly emerged from the house and lunged at him. The child suffered as many as 16 severe bite marks across his arms, legs, and body, leaving him critically wounded. Following preliminary medical care, attending doctors transferred the severely injured student to an advanced medical center for specialized treatment.
Seventh-Grade Student Granth Attacked on Street
The victim was identified as Granth, a class seven student residing in B Block of NIT-3. His father, Jitender, who earns a livelihood by running a biryani food stall near the BK Chowk area, recounted the traumatic ordeal in his complaint. On Saturday evening, Granth had taken his bicycle into the neighborhood lane as part of his routine. Halting a short distance away from his residence, he stood outside a local house and was engaged in conversation with his friend, completely unaware of the looming danger.
Unprovoked Onslaught Outside the Residence
According to the police complaint, the property outside which Granth had paused belonged to a resident named Om. Without warning, Om's pitbull rushed out through the doorway and directly pounced on the young student. The animal pinned the defenseless child down and relentlessly bit into his flesh. Caught completely off guard, the boy cried out in sheer agony as the ferocious canine mauled him repeatedly across his limbs and torso.
Owner Stood By Inactive, Locals Intervened to Rescue Child
Jitender explicitly accused the pet owner of severe negligence, alleging that Om made no active attempt to restrain his animal or rescue the screaming child during the onslaught. Hearing the boy's piercing screams, nearby residents and passersby rushed to the spot in large numbers. It was only after a crowd gathered and intervened with force that the rampaging dog was pulled away and the child was freed from its grip. By that time, the animal had already inflicted 16 distinct bite wounds across his body.
Critical Injuries Prompt Transfer as Police Initiate Probe
The family immediately rushed the heavily bleeding child to the district civil hospital, BK Hospital. Given the extent of the trauma, the depth of the bite wounds, and the risk of complications, doctors stabilized him initially before referring him to an advanced medical facility for intensive emergency care, where he remains under treatment.
Following the harrowing ordeal, Jitender approached the authorities and lodged a formal complaint at the NIT-3 police post. Police Post In-charge Manoj confirmed that a written complaint has been registered and an investigation is officially underway. Law enforcement officers are inspecting the scene of the incident, reviewing physical circumstances, and probing the culpability and negligence of the dog's owner under the law.
Second Severe Attack in Haryana Within a Week
This violent episode marks the second alarming pitbull attack reported in Haryana within a span of just seven days. Only the previous week, in the Sonipat district, an identical incident had horrified residents when a pitbull savagely attacked a six-month-old infant who was being carried in the arms of his aunt inside a residential street. The recurring nature of such vicious encounters has brought intense scrutiny back to the unregulated keeping and handling of potentially lethal dog breeds in densely populated urban neighborhoods.
