The Classroom Attack on October 28
The distressing incident took place on October 28 inside a classroom at a school located in Panchkula. During class hours, an eight-year-old male student allegedly launched a violent assault on the six-year-old girl, leaving her critically injured. The episode prompted immediate alarm after a purported video recording of the encounter began circulating widely across social media platforms.
The footage showed the boy grabbing the girl by her hair and repeatedly slamming her head violently against a study desk. Even after the young victim collapsed helplessly onto the floor, the boy allegedly continued the assault by kicking her and striking her with a brick-like hard object. Given the severe trauma and multiple head injuries she sustained in the classroom, she was immediately rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, commonly known as PGIMER, in Chandigarh, where medical teams monitored and treated her condition over several days before sanctioning her discharge.
Police Investigation and Psychological Assessment
The local police stepped in immediately to handle the legal and investigative formalities surrounding the case. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amrinder Singh confirmed the ages of both children, stating that the boy involved is eight years old while the injured girl is six years old. Addressing inquiries regarding the underlying factors behind such behavior, the officer noted that the boy's medical and psychological condition is currently being examined by relevant professionals.
The senior police officer explained that under standard procedural guidelines involving children aged between seven and twelve years, a comprehensive institutional assessment is conducted. Any future administrative or corrective measures will be determined strictly based on the findings of that specialized evaluation report. The troubling occurrence has sparked wider conversations regarding student surveillance, safety protocols, and mental well-being across educational institutions.
