Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Haryana on Thursday to lead the Bharatiya Janata Party's Loktantra Bachao Arajakata Hatao march across Karnal and Ambala. Alongside his participation in the party's outreach march, the Home Minister will officially inaugurate the newly constructed National War Memorial in Ambala Cantonment, built across 22 acres at a cost of 800 crore rupees. Following the memorial dedication, he is scheduled to address a public gathering at Gandhi Maidan in Ambala Cantonment.
Opening Schedule in Karnal and Leadership Presence
The tour itinerary begins in Karnal, where Amit Shah will spend approximately one and a half hours participating in the foot march before departing for Ambala. Key party leaders, including Haryana BJP in-charge Smriti Irani, state party president Archana Gupta, and Chief Minister Nayab Saini, will accompany him throughout the tour events. The senior leadership had previously met the Union Home Minister in Delhi on Wednesday to review the itinerary and organizational preparations ahead of the visit.
Traffic Diversions and Road Restrictions
In anticipation of the large rally at Gandhi Maidan and high-level dignitary movement, Ambala Police have implemented extensive traffic adjustments across the area. Commuters have been urged to avoid congested corridors and use designated detours. Specifically, the Ambala-Yamunanagar route stretching from Janta Chowk to Geeta Gopal Chowk in Ambala Cantonment will remain closed to general vehicular traffic, though emergency response vehicles will continue to have unimpeded access throughout the restriction window.
