Dr. Arvind Kumar, Head of the Department of Medicine at Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, highlighted that the prevailing rainy and humid climate has directly contributed to the rise in weather-related illnesses. The hospital's Outpatient Department (OPD) is currently recording over 500 visitors every day. Among these, more than 150 patients are reporting specifically with symptoms of viral fever. Dr. Arvind Kumar noted that while most patients recover within 4 to 5 days with appropriate care, certain cases take up to a full week to resolve. Patients frequently experience severe muscle pain, intense fatigue, and body weakness during the recovery phase.

Addressing the health concern, Dr. RC Gupta, Principal of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, urged the public to stay vigilant and adhere to preventive guidelines. He advised that anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, cold, or muscle aches should immediately consult a doctor and take prescribed medication. To minimize transmission, he stressed the extensive use of face masks in crowded spaces. Furthermore, Dr. RC Gupta advised that if a family member exhibits viral symptoms, others should avoid sharing personal items, particularly towels, to prevent spreading the infection within the household.
