Hair fall, dandruff, damaged strands, thinning hair, an oily scalp and premature greying are troubling almost everyone these days. But the fix for all of it may already be sitting in your kitchen. According to Dr Hansa Yogendra, Ayurveda has used fenugreek seeds for hair care for centuries. This tiny, unassuming seed is considered highly effective in controlling nearly all of these hair problems. Here is how it works.
Why is fenugreek good for hair?
Fenugreek seeds are rich in protein, nicotinic acid, lecithin and folic acid. These elements strengthen hair right from the roots and help keep dandruff under control. The protein in the seeds reinforces every strand of hair, which reduces breakage and hair fall.
What do you need to make the mask?
To prepare this hair mask, you need two tablespoons of soaked fenugreek seeds, two to three hibiscus flowers or leaves, half a cup of black tea and half a cup of curd. Curd contains lactic acid, which helps clean the scalp thoroughly.
How to prepare and apply the mask
Soak the fenugreek seeds and hibiscus flowers or leaves together overnight. The next morning, blend both into a completely smooth paste in a mixer. Add cold black tea and curd to this paste and mix again into a smooth blend. Apply this mask from the scalp all the way to the tips of the hair. Leave it on for about half an hour. Once the time is up, wash your hair thoroughly.
Using this mask regularly can help keep hair fall, dandruff, damage and thinning under control.
