Armaan Singh Bhinder, hailing from Solan district in Himachal Pradesh, has secured a decisive victory for the Vice President post in the Punjab University Student Council elections held in Chandigarh. A resident of Chuhawal village in the Nalagarh region, Armaan defeated his nearest opponent by a convincing margin of nearly 500 votes. He has been actively involved in student affairs for around six years. After completing his graduation at DAV College, Armaan earned an LLB degree directly from the Punjab University campus, where he is currently pursuing his Master's degree.
Warm Welcome with Dhol and Celebrations in Nalagarh
Upon returning to his hometown of Nalagarh following the announcement of the election results, Armaan was received with immense enthusiasm by local residents and supporters. The celebratory reception featured traditional dhol drums and musical bands, as crowds gathered to welcome him with flower garlands and cheers. Well-wishers, relatives, and local leaders have been continuously visiting his family residence to extend their congratulations. For the people of Nalagarh and the wider Solan district, his election to a senior post at a prestigious university is being celebrated as a moment of regional pride.
Victory of an Independent Student Coalition
Armaan contested the election under the banner of the PUDF (Punjab University Democratic Front). According to Armaan, his candidacy did not rely on support from mainstream political parties or external political backing. Barely 25 days prior to the election, students associated with various existing campus groups came together to form this new independent coalition. Reflecting on his victory margin of approximately 500 votes, Armaan refrained from describing it as a personal achievement, instead calling it a collective triumph for the university's 18,000 students whose trust he pledged to uphold.
Prioritizing Core Campus Facilities and Governance
Outlining his road map as Vice President, Armaan emphasized that his focus would remain firmly on resolving essential campus concerns rather than making unrealistically large promises. Key areas of immediate action include enhancing campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity, streamlining convocation logistics, improving campus transport connections, and maintaining strict standards of hygiene and sanitation. Armaan noted that university functions cannot be considered smooth until basic student amenities are fully addressed, adding that his goal is to make campus governance more transparent and efficient.
