A major tragedy was averted in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh when an Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus narrowly avoided plunging into the Satluj River. A sudden drop in brake pressure created a terrifying situation, leaving the vehicle hanging precariously over the edge.
How the Incident Unfolded
The event took place on Thursday while the bus was en route to Reckong Peo. As it reached a sharp turn near Pospa, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of brake pressure. Consequently, the front tire moved off the edge of the road, leaving the bus dangling perilously. Displaying remarkable presence of mind, the driver managed to control the vehicle and brought it to a halt against a retaining wall.
Passengers Escape Unharmed
At the time of the close call, approximately 10 passengers were travelling onboard the bus. Fortunately, due to the driver's prompt and sensible reaction, everyone escaped safely without any major injuries. The bus typically operates on the Rupi route.

Traveling through hilly terrains remains inherently risky, particularly given the challenging topography and weather conditions in the region.
