This development arrives just two months after cameras stopped rolling on Season 3, coinciding with the end of showrunner Dario Scardapane's contract, which was not extended by the studio.
Creative Shifts and Production Overhauls
The journey of Daredevil Born Again has seen dramatic turns since it was first greenlit in 2022 with Matt Corman and Chris Ord assigned as head writers. Bringing back the character was a major shift after the Netflix era of street-level Marvel shows had faded. However, when the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA industry strikes shut down cameras just weeks into production during 2023, executives stepped in to completely reconstruct the project's creative direction.
During that forced hiatus, Corman and Ord were removed, paving the way for The Punisher showrunner Dario Scardapane to take over creative duties. At the same time, Moon Knight directing duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were brought in as executive producers and directors. That restructuring steered the debut season, relying initially on the intense rivalry between Charlie Cox as Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson 'Kingpin' Fisk, before finding its footing in the Benson and Moorhead helmed second half.
