A gruesome incident in the Chak Murar area of Jammu and Kashmir has sent shockwaves through the local community following the recovery of an 11-year-old boy's body from a farm field. The sight of the young child lying dead amidst the fields left residents stunned, as no one could comprehend who would harbor such intense enmity toward an innocent minor. Upon being alerted by a local bystander, police personnel quickly arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and launched an immediate investigation, facing the primary challenge of identifying the victim.
Chilling Phone Call to the Mother
The investigation took a dramatic turn when the stepfather called his wife to make a horrifying confession. He informed her over the phone that he had killed her 11-year-old son and dumped the corpse in a nearby field, instructing her to retrieve the body from the specified location if she wanted it. Overcome with grief and shock, the mother immediately reported the incident to the police station and rushed to the mentioned spot alongside an investigating police team.
However, when the police officers and the distressed mother arrived at the specified location, neither the child's body nor the stepfather was present at the site. Subsequent attempts by the mother to reach her husband via phone failed, as his mobile phone had been switched off, heightening the urgency of the situation.
Surrender at the Police Station and Recovery of the Body
Before police forces could launch a formal manhunt, the suspect unexpectedly walked into the police station on his own accord. He confessed before the officers that he had murdered his 11-year-old stepson and disposed of the body in a field. Following his admission, a police unit accompanied the suspect back to the agricultural land in the Chak Murar locality to locate the victim.
Within minutes of searching the designated area under the suspect's direction, law enforcement officers recovered the minor boy's body from the field. Police subsequently dispatched the corpse for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death while initiating an intensive interrogation of the accused to uncover the motive behind the murder.
Marital Discord and Fear of Abandonment
The revelations during interrogation left investigating officers appalled. Questioning disclosed that the child's mother had abandoned her first husband five years prior to marry the accused. The 11-year-old victim was born from her previous marriage. Although she had been living with the accused as his wife, she had never legally dissolved her first marriage through a formal divorce.
Whenever the accused pressed her to obtain a legal divorce from her former spouse and formalize their union, she repeatedly avoided the topic. Over recent months, the suspect developed severe paranoia that his wife might eventually leave him and reconcile with her first husband, driving him to hatch a deadly plan.
The Conspiracy and Arrest of the Accused
To prevent his wife from departing, the suspect devised a scheme to kill the 11-year-old child and frame the first husband for the homicide. He calculated that if the police arrested the former husband for the murder, it would permanently eliminate the possibility of his wife returning to him.
Executing his plan, the suspect lured the child away from home under the false pretext of purchasing household items. Once isolated, he murdered the boy and concealed the corpse in the fields of Chak Murar. Police identified the accused as Ravi Kumar and officially placed him under arrest following his confession and the retrieval of corroborating evidence.
