Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have tightened the noose around terrorist networks by arresting a total of 10 suspected associates within a span of 18 hours. These operations, conducted across multiple districts, also led to the recovery of substantial quantities of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, delivering a significant blow to the logistical support system of active militants.
Three Suspects Linked to Hizbul Mujahideen Arrested in Shopian
In the Shopian district, security forces intercepted and detained three suspected terrorist associates traveling on a motorcycle on Monday. Subsequent searches led to the recovery of two hand grenades and incriminating materials linked to the proscribed terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. The arrested individuals have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Dar, Amir Yusuf, and Junaid Muzaffar, who were allegedly facilitating logistics and transporting explosives for operatives.
AK-47 Assault Rifle and Ammunition Recovered from Abandoned House in Sopore
In a separate operation within the Sopore area of Baramulla district, security forces uncovered a hidden cache of arms and ammunition stashed inside an abandoned Kashmiri Pandit house. The seized items included one AK assault rifle, three magazines, 72 rounds of ammunition, and four hand grenades, which were reportedly stored to execute coordinated attacks.
Joint Cordon and Search Operation in Pulwama's Yarwan Forests
Meanwhile, in the Pulwama district, security personnel apprehended two individuals aiding militants, recovering weapons and munitions from their possession. The joint operation was executed in the Yarwan forest area of Cbi Nath, Rajpora, involving the Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the 183 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Foundation. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a cordon and search operation was launched, during which security teams spotted two suspects emerging from the forest towards Cbi Nath village and swiftly apprehended them.
Pistols and Hand Grenades Seized from Arrested Operatives
The individuals captured in Pulwama have been identified as Latief Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Didad from Lassi Dban, and Aijaz Ahmad Bajad, son of Nazir Ahmad Bajad from Bun Kha Bamnu. Officials confirmed that during the frisking, one pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition, and a hand grenade were retrieved from them. These synchronized arrests and recoveries underscore the ongoing offensive by security forces to dismantle the underground support grid sustaining militant activities in the region.
