Free Artificial Limbs Camp in Jharkhand's Koderma Set to Benefit Amputees Across Three Days

Under its Ummeed Ki Kiran project, Rotary Club Koderma will host a three-day camp from September 25 to 27, offering custom prosthetic limbs and free lodging to needy persons with disabilities.

A humanitarian initiative aimed at restoring mobility and independence to financially vulnerable persons with disabilities is scheduled to take place in Jharkhand. Under the banner of its Ummeed Ki Kiran project, Rotary Club Koderma is organizing a comprehensive three-day free artificial limb transplantation and fitment camp. The camp will be hosted at the Rotary Club Koderma auditorium on September 25, September 26, and September 27. Operations will run daily from 10 am to 5 pm, covering patient enrollment, medical assessments, and the on-site fabrication of prosthetic limbs.

Targeted Support for Individuals with Missing Limbs and Fingers

Project Director Rotarian Naveen Jain explained that the initiative is structured to assist amputees who have lost hands, legs, or fingers in accidents or due to medical conditions, and whose families cannot afford commercially sold prosthetics. In the open market, standard functional artificial limbs often cost between 20,000 and 25,000 rupees or even more, placing them far beyond the reach of underprivileged households. To eliminate this financial barrier, eligible candidates visiting the camp will receive prosthetic solutions entirely free of charge. Beneficiaries must register on arrival using their Aadhaar cards, which will be used to issue an official registration identity card.

Specialist Delegation from Gorakhpur to Fabricate Limbs On-Site

Outlining the operational process, Naveen Jain stated that on the opening day, a specialized medical and technical contingent traveling from Gorakhpur will examine each registered person and take precise custom measurements. Modern fabrication machinery and raw materials are being brought directly from Gorakhpur, allowing technicians to construct customized prosthetic devices on-site within the Rotary Club Koderma auditorium itself. The initiative seeks to alleviate the daily physical challenges faced by individuals who have remained without assistive devices due to poverty, enabling them to resume personal and vocational tasks with renewed confidence.

Complimentary Boarding and Lodging for Outstation Beneficiaries

Registration Chair Simranjeet Singh noted that registration queries and enrollments have begun pouring in not only from across Koderma district, but also from numerous other districts in Jharkhand and neighboring Bihar. To ensure that visiting patients and their attendants encounter no logistical distress during their stay, Rotary Club Koderma has arranged complimentary lodging and food services for all outstation attendees. Representatives of the organization emphasized that the ultimate goal of the camp is to relieve economically disadvantaged persons with disabilities of heavy medical expenditures while providing them practical support toward self-reliance.
