Residents of Jharkhand who have been grappling with intense humidity and scorching heat have received a welcome update from the India Meteorological Department. A significant shift in weather patterns is expected across Jharkhand and 15 other states over the next two days, with authorities predicting strong winds, rainfall, and the risk of lightning strikes in various parts of the state.
Relief from Humidity and Rising Temperatures
For several days, most districts in Jharkhand have been recording temperatures one to four degrees Celsius above normal levels. The combination of intense morning sunshine and high atmospheric moisture has made daily life difficult for many. However, the latest meteorological updates suggest that increased cloud cover starting today will lead to a complete change in weather conditions, offering a respite from the current sweltering heat.
Abhishek Anand, a senior scientist at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, noted that while the pace of the monsoon had slackened over the last 24 hours, it is now poised to regain full strength. Experts anticipate that the minimum temperature in the state will drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius within the next three days, providing substantial relief to the population.
Monsoon Performance in the Last 24 Hours
Due to the slowed progression of the monsoon, the rains have yet to fully cover all parts of Garhwa and Palamu. Despite this, some districts recorded moderate to significant rainfall. According to the data from the last 24 hours, Pakur received the highest rainfall at 27.8 millimeters, followed by 18.0 millimeters in Giridih and 16.0 millimeters in Deoghar. Other regions experienced only light drizzle or intermittent cloud cover.
Weather Department Alerts
The Meteorological Department has issued a special alert for today and tomorrow, urging the public to remain in safe areas during adverse weather conditions or thunderstorms. Particular caution has been advised for farmers working in fields in rural areas, especially regarding the danger of lightning strikes. As the monsoon's impact intensifies over the coming two days, the state is expected to experience widespread and consistent rainfall.
