A long-standing commercial property dispute in the Phusbangla area of Jharia took an extremely violent and tragic turn when two minor children became the victims of a brutal acid attack. The young siblings sustained severe burn injuries in the life-threatening assault, which stemmed directly from an escalating conflict over shop ownership and alleged illegal occupation. The entire episode has not only left the victims traumatised but has also raised very serious questions regarding the initial role and integrity of the local administration and police. Taking strict cognisance of the horrific crime, State Minister Jyoti Singh Matharu personally visited the aggrieved family and issued stern directives to the top police officials demanding a completely impartial investigation into the matter.
The Forged Documents and Roots of the Property Dispute

According to the claims detailed in her letter, Jitendra Kumar, the operator of Kanak Jewellers, had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to forcibly and illegally occupy the shop premises by relying on entirely forged and fake documentation. This led to a bitter and extended legal confrontation between the rightful landlord, Sardar Jasbir Singh, and the shop operator. Crucially, the local court had already thoroughly examined the matter and completely dismissed the fraudulent claims made by Jitendra Kumar, passing a clear verdict in favour of the landlord. However, despite the court's explicit eviction orders, the accused allegedly refused to vacate the premises. This blatant defiance of the legal system caused the tension between the two parties to mount steadily, ultimately culminating in an unimaginable act of violence.
The Horrific April 25 Attack on Minor Siblings
The simmering property tension reached a devastating boiling point on April 25. The victims' family claims that on that fateful day, a heated argument escalated dramatically, leading to a pre-planned and targeted attack by Jitendra Kumar, the operator of Kanak Jewellers. In the midst of the chaotic dispute, acid was abruptly thrown at the landlord's two minor children, which included a young girl and her brother. The suddenness and sheer brutality of the attack gave the defenceless minors absolutely no chance to escape or shield themselves from the corrosive liquid. Both children suffered severe and agonising burn injuries as a direct result of the acid exposure. Making the situation even more appalling, the family has leveled further serious allegations that the attackers also subjected the minor girl to obscene acts during the terrifying ordeal. This incredibly inhumane act has plunged the entire minority family into a state of deep trauma, fear, and absolute despair.
Medical Negligence and Police Cover-Up Allegations
In the immediate aftermath of the violent attack, the actions and general conduct of the local police and administrative authorities have come under immense scrutiny and suspicion. Realising the gravity of the situation, State Minister Jyoti Singh Matharu spent considerable time at the victims' residence to assess the ground reality of the incident. After hearing the family's harrowing ordeal, the minister launched a scathing attack on the local police and health officials. He boldly alleged that during the initial stages of local medical treatment, there was a coordinated and deliberate attempt by the authorities to severely downplay the true severity of the horrific crime. The initial medical reports were allegedly manipulated to appear completely normal, seemingly in an effort to shield the accused from stringent legal action. However, as the young girl's physical condition began to deteriorate rapidly, she was urgently referred to the SNMMCH hospital in Dhanbad for specialised care. It was only there that a detailed and comprehensive medical examination officially confirmed that the horrific wounds on the children's bodies were unequivocally caused by acid burns. The minister did not mince his words, categorically accusing the police machinery of actively misleading the court and attempting to bury crucial evidentiary facts.
Minister Demands Arrests and Immediate Eviction
During his high-profile visit to the victims' home, State Minister Jyoti Singh Matharu was accompanied by several key officials, including the Jharia Circle Officer, the Sindri SDPO, and the Jharia Police Station In-charge. The minister did not hesitate to strongly reprimand these police and administrative officers right on the spot. Speaking in an incredibly stern tone, he issued absolute directives that the disputed shop must be vacated with immediate effect, strictly adhering to the court's earlier orders. Furthermore, the minister mandated a completely independent, transparent, and fair investigation into both the brutal acid attack and the alleged obscene acts committed against the minor girl. He instructed the police force to ensure the swift and unconditional arrest of all the culprits involved, stressing that the traumatised family desperately needs justice.
