The Demands of a Corporate Career and Neglected Health
Payal, a software engineer holding an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, dedicated nearly 15 years of her life to the corporate sector. During this demanding period, she successfully managed her family and built a thriving career, but in doing so, she completely neglected her personal health and well-being.
A Mother's Awakening
The turning point in her life came approximately 7.5 years ago following the birth of her daughter. By then, her weight had surged to 76 kg, and she had begun suffering from debilitating back pain at a relatively young age. Payal recalls being so deeply involved in caring for her family and newborn that she forgot about herself. The true realization dawned on her when the back pain became so severe that she struggled to even lift her baby. She understood that if she was not healthy, she would never be able to care for her loved ones properly.
Shedding 26 kg and Curing Chronic Pain
This realization marked the beginning of her yoga journey. Through a combination of disciplined living and regular yoga sessions, she underwent an incredible transformation. Payal managed to bring her weight down from 76 kg to under 50 kg, losing around 26 kg in the process. Alongside the weight loss, she cured her chronic back pain and eliminated persistent fatigue from her life.
Challenging the Normalization of Chronic Illnesses
Speaking to TrendKia, Payal highlighted that India is rapidly turning into a hub for chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. She noted that after entering their 40s, people often resign themselves to these issues, alongside back pain, viewing them as a natural consequence of aging. She firmly opposes this mindset. According to her, celebrating yoga on a single day of the year is not enough. True health requires a 365-day commitment. Even if one is short on time, dedicating just 15 minutes daily to yoga can create a massive difference.
A Special Appeal to Mothers and Women
Payal’s primary focus is now on empowering women, particularly mothers. She observes that women frequently deprioritize their own health while looking after their children and partners. Her message is clear: a healthy family can only exist if the mother is healthy. She urges women to make their physical and mental well-being a primary focus.
Inspiring Millions Online
After successfully reclaiming her health, Payal is now on a mission to help others. She uses online platforms to reach out to lakhs of women, encouraging them to adopt yoga and lead healthier lifestyles. Her goal is to ensure every woman values her own body as much as she values her family. Payal also credits Prime Minister Narendra Modi for popularizing yoga globally and making it a household practice, raising health awareness across communities. She believes yoga is not just a workout but a complete path to a balanced and fulfilling life.
