True dedication and hard work can lead to remarkable heights, as proven by the inspiring journey of Pratibha Pandey from the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. With immense focus and persistence, she has achieved a significant milestone by setting 11 separate yoga records in a single day, successfully earning a spot in the Worldwide Books of Records. This achievement has been officially recognized by the organization through a certificate awarded to her for her exceptional performance.
The Beginning of a Yoga Journey
Pratibha's interest in yoga blossomed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Seeking ways to boost her immunity during those challenging times, she turned to yoga as a core part of her daily routine. Initially, she learned through various online platforms, eventually refining her skills under the guidance of a private trainer to master complex asanas. Although she took a short break from her practice to focus on completing her B.Ed degree, she returned to yoga with renewed passion after finishing her studies, aiming for these formal record-breaking titles.
The Path to Setting Records
A resident of the Ghode Shaheed area, Pratibha applied to the Worldwide Books of Records after mastering several intricate yoga postures. The committee evaluated her performance, where she demonstrated various asanas within a short timeframe. Upon satisfying the criteria for excellence, her feats were officially recorded, and she was presented with her certificate in December, bringing prestige to her district.
Promoting Yoga and Overcoming Hurdles
Reflecting on the benefits of her practice, Pratibha emphasizes that yoga does more than just enhance immunity; it keeps the body energized throughout the day. She voiced concerns regarding the lack of awareness about yoga in Mirzapur, noting that low literacy rates often create barriers for women and girls who wish to step out and practice in public spaces. Pratibha strongly advocates for women to practice yoga, highlighting that it acts as a solution to many health-related issues, making it an essential practice for both men and women.
Family Support and Avenues for Growth
Pratibha’s father, Shiv Shankar Pandey, expressed his pride, noting that the entire family encouraged her throughout the process. However, he also pointed out that while there is government interest in promoting yoga, the benefits are not yet fully visible at the grassroots level. He urged the authorities to support individual practitioners alongside the practice itself, which he believes would significantly help in the wider propagation and popularization of yoga across society.
