A shocking incident highlighting severe administrative neglect has surfaced from Primary School located in Dihuli Village No. 4, under Sihawal Janpad Panchayat in Sidhi district. Teacher Dinesh Prasad Kol has been accused of arriving at the school premises heavily intoxicated and consuming alcohol inside the classroom environment. A video recorded by local villager Gayasuddin Ansari on Thursday quickly circulated across social media platforms, exposing the alarming state of affairs at the educational facility.
Intoxicated Teacher Staggers in Classroom, Misspells Collector's Name
Following the viral video, an inspection of the school building revealed Dinesh Prasad Kol lying down inside one of the school rooms. When questioned about his state, he initially denied consuming alcohol and claimed that he was suffering from elevated blood pressure (BP). However, shortly afterwards, he struggled to remain balanced and staggered toward the blackboard to teach the students. While attempting to write on the board, he erroneously wrote the name "Manish Mishra" instead of the District Collector Vikas Mishra.
Students Allege Teacher Vomited on Them, Parents Withdraw Children
Young students attending the primary school made startling disclosures regarding the teacher's routine behavior. The children stated that Dinesh Prasad Kol frequently comes to school under the influence of alcohol. Due to severe intoxication, he often loses balance and collapses inside the classroom, sometimes falling directly onto the students. Children also reported instances where the teacher vomited inside the classroom. Concerned over their children's safety and the degraded academic environment, numerous parents chose to stop sending their children to school altogether.
Absence for Months with Full Salary Release Sparks Investigation
Ashok Kumar Sharma, another teacher posted at the same institution, claimed that he has been witnessing this appalling condition for the past two years. According to him, the accused teacher barely attends school for two to three days in an entire month, and even on those rare days, he remains in an intoxicated condition. Sharma noted that multiple formal complaints alongside official attendance records were submitted to both the Sankul Principal and the BRC office, yet no administrative action was initiated. He further alleged that despite negligible physical presence, the teacher continued to receive his full monthly salary. Consequently, student strength at the school plummeted dramatically from approximately 200 students earlier down to merely 28.
Teacher Claims Alcohol Consumed on Medical Advice for High BP
Addressing the matter, Sankul Principal Suresh Prasad Kol confirmed reviewing the viral video and stated that the teacher had received multiple warnings in the past without any noticeable improvement. Meanwhile, ACS Diwakar Prasad Shukla explained that salary disbursements rely on attendance reports submitted by the Sankul. Preliminary findings indicate that the teacher physically attended school on only four days during the period in question, despite full attendance being processed. Shukla confirmed that a detailed inquiry has been ordered. In his defense, Dinesh Prasad Kol admitted to occasionally drinking alcohol and carrying liquor bottles into the school, claiming he suffers from high BP and consumes alcohol based on advice from a medical practitioner.

This incident in Sidhi is part of a troubling trend of alcohol-related misconduct reported in educational facilities. Just last month in Dhar district, a female teacher reached her school in an ebriated state and engaged in a heated argument with workers engaged in construction on the campus, a video of which went viral. Similarly, in Bihar's Rohtas district, a school principal faced allegations of consuming alcohol on school premises and physically assaulting as well as verbally abusing a fellow teacher.
