72-Year-Old Woman Murdered Over Property Dispute In Bhilwara, Body Burned And Bones Dumped In River

Police in Rajasthan's Bhilwara have solved the murder of 72-year-old Kamala Devi, who was missing for 15 days. Two men killed her over a property dispute, burned her body, and dumped the remains in the Kothari River.

In Rajasthan's Bhilwara district, the mystery surrounding a 72-year-old woman missing for the past fortnight has culminated in a chilling murder investigation. Police have cracked the complex case with the arrest of two individuals. Investigators revealed that the elderly woman was abducted, strangled, and her body cremated inside a house before her remains were thrown into a river, all stemming from a monetary and property transfer dispute.

CCTV Footage Led To The Breakthrough

The victim, 72-year-old Kamala Devi Kakariya, a resident of Veer Savarkar Chowk in Bhilwara city, disappeared unexpectedly 15 days ago. After searching unsuccessfully, her daughter-in-law, Raveena Devi, filed a missing person report at the Bhimganj police station on October 15. Police initiated a swift probe and scrutinized surveillance footage from surrounding areas. The camera feeds captured the victim for the last time accompanied by 50-year-old Ravi Tapadiya, a resident of R.K. Colony.

Conspiracy Driven By Property Dispute

Following the visual evidence, police detained Ravi Tapadiya for questioning. Police officials noted that the suspect initially tried to mislead the investigation with false stories. However, sustained psychological and rigorous interrogation led him to confess to the crime. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sajjan Singh stated that Tapadiya was a frequent visitor to Kamala Devi's residence and managed most of her financial and asset-related affairs. Seeking to illegally transfer one of her properties under his name, he hatched the plan to eliminate her when she resisted or posed an obstacle.

Body Burned And Remains Dumped In River

To execute the plan, Tapadiya lured the woman to a secluded house located near Chhoti Puliya in the Subhash Nagar police station area. There, accompanied by an accomplice named Heera Sindhi, he suffocated and strangled the elderly woman to death. To destroy evidence, the duo burned her corpse inside the house. Once the body was reduced to ashes, they collected the remaining bones and debris and dumped them into the Kothari River along Palri Road.

Search Operations Underway For Body Remains

Both primary suspect Ravi Tapadiya and his associate Heera Sindhi have been placed under arrest. Law enforcement teams are actively conducting search operations in the Kothari River based on the disclosures made by the accused. Divers, heavy machinery including JCBs, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have been deployed to recover any surviving bone fragments. Senior officers confirmed that recovered remains will undergo DNA testing alongside the victim's immediate relatives to establish conclusive scientific evidence for the prosecution.

It sends chills down my spine thinking about what happened to that elderly woman in Bhilwara. When I visited there for reporting a few months ago, it never felt like such a horrifying betrayal could lurk among near ones.

Arjun, I completely agree with you. But it's shocking to think how someone could stoop this low for property greed. Besides this crafty Ravi Tapadiya, how deep does this web of conspiracy go?

Rohan Verma@rohan-verma·59m ago

Hard to believe someone so trusted could do this. There might be more to it.

Rohan, betrayal is painful, but did the accused admit to trying to grab any other property during interrogation?
