Inaugurating the three-day Rajyotsava celebrations on the 71st Foundation Day of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav delivered an extensive account of the state's economic progress and institutional priorities. Lighting the ceremonial lamp at the Parade Ground in the capital city of Bhopal amid the chanting of traditional Swasti Vachan, he stated that the state currently occupies a leading position nationwide in industrial development, employment generation, agriculture, dairy production, tourism, and heritage conservation. The event commenced with traditional welcoming ceremonies and floral tributes to artists, after which the Chief Minister formally toured the modern agricultural exhibition, the development gallery, the women entrepreneurship pavilion, and the indigenous cuisine fair. Addressing the gathering, he remarked that the cultural consciousness of Madhya Pradesh is vast and enduring, adding that the state's formation represents the collective resolve, moral grounding, and dedicated hard work of its citizens across generations rather than the isolated vision of an individual or era.
Industrial Momentum, Investment Realisation, and Small Enterprise Subsidies
Reflecting on economic milestones, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that industrial investments worth Rs 12 lakh crore have successfully transitioned from proposals into on-ground execution, with momentum continuing across key sectors. Outlining the governance roadmap, he highlighted that the observance of 2025 as the Industry Year generated substantial employment opportunities for young professionals, while the designation of 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year directed resources toward rural economic expansion. To reinforce the base of local commerce and entrepreneurship, the state government disbursed Rs 490 crore in direct financial subsidies to micro, small, and medium enterprises during the event. This support aims to strengthen decentralized manufacturing clusters and sustain self-employment ecosystems for young jobseekers within their home districts.
Farming Growth Exceeds 24 Percent Alongside Dairy Production Ambitions
Turning to rural achievements, the Chief Minister underscored that the agricultural growth rate of Madhya Pradesh has crossed 24 percent, cementing its reputation as an agrarian powerhouse. To safeguard rural livelihoods, the administration instituted a policy mandating compensation at four times the prevailing market valuation whenever agricultural land is acquired for public infrastructure and developmental works. State-funded irrigation networks are also expanding continuously to bring canal water to uncultivated tracts. In the dairy sector, where Madhya Pradesh currently ranks third nationally in milk production, targeted animal husbandry initiatives are underway to propel the state into the top position in the country. Simultaneously, coordinated investments in tourist infrastructure and historical conservation projects continue to reshape the state's cultural identity.
Bhopal Selected to Host National Army Day Celebrations
Announcing a major national milestone, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav disclosed that Bhopal will host the official Army Day celebrations on January 15, marking the opening month of the dedicated Youth Year. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to attend the ceremonial proceedings in Bhopal. Expressing gratitude to the armed forces, the Chief Minister observed that the round-the-clock vigilance of military personnel stationed along the nation's frontiers guarantees the stability of India's democratic institutions. He noted that India has established itself globally as a decisive power capable of crossing borders to eliminate security threats inside enemy territories, reflecting the heightened morale fostered under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state's Foundation Day itinerary itself commenced with commemorative tributes at the Shaurya Smarak memorial in Bhopal.
Central Mega Infrastructure Projects Bolster Regional Growth
Reviewing development works undertaken over the past two and three-quarter years, the Chief Minister credited strong institutional coordination with the Union government for unlocking major infrastructure assets. He highlighted several flagship central projects awarded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the PM MITRA mega textile park situated in Dhar district and the multi-crore capacity expansion at the Bina refinery. Inter-state water security initiatives, primarily the Ken-Betwa river linking project and the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking venture, are advancing to mitigate drought across Bundelkhand, Malwa, and the Chambal valley. Furthermore, the approved Renewable Energy and Power Equipment Manufacturing Zone at Mohasa-Babai is positioned to serve as a manufacturing anchor for green energy machinery and power apparatus.
Scholarships and High-Value Incentives for Students and Farmers
At the ceremony, exceptional academic and rural talent received state recognition and material rewards. Under the Bhagwan Shri Krishna Meritorious Scholarship initiative, 102 gifted students from across Madhya Pradesh were each presented with a cash grant of Rs 1 lakh alongside certificates of commendation. Local recipients from Bhopal district included Akshara Goswami of the Government Women's Polytechnic College and Pritam Mandlekar from Sardar Vallabhbhai Polytechnic, both honoured in the school category. In the statewide Kisan Kalyan Swabhiman Parv Quiz, which vetted 165 winners across all administrative districts, top honours for Bhopal district were awarded to Sandeep Verma in first place, Suhani Rajput in second place, and Samir Gaudke in third place. Winning farmers were presented with tractors, Bullet motorcycles, and electric scooters to promote agricultural mechanization and sustainable local commuting.
Musical Evening Headlined by Playback Singer Monali Thakur
The cultural programme of the opening day concluded with an energetic live musical performance led by celebrated playback singer Monali Thakur and her accompanying ensemble from Mumbai. Known for her expressive vocal range, Thakur entertained the audience with popular Bollywood soundtrack numbers, including 'Sawaar Loon' from Lootera, 'Moh Moh Ke Dhaage' from Dum Laga Ke Haisha, 'Zara Zara Touch Me' and 'Khwab Dekhe' from Race, 'Cham Cham' from Baaghi, and the title track from Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The inaugural cultural segment opened under the 'Deshrag' banner, where 71 school children delivered a choral rendition of the national song 'Vande Mataram', accompanied by musical arrangements from the state police band and a synchronized fireworks display over the parade grounds.
