A devastating tragedy has shaken the quiet village of Kishanpur, located within the jurisdiction of the Matabasaiya police station in Morena district. A thirty-five-year-old local resident, Balram Kushwaha, brutally murdered his wife and their two young sons before ending his own life by jumping in front of a speeding train. The horrific sequence of events, which unfolded late on Friday night, has left the local community in deep shock and mourning. Police authorities and forensic experts have launched a comprehensive investigation to piece together the exact circumstances that led to this extreme step.
A Night of Unspeakable Violence
According to initial findings from the investigation, the violent incident took place within the walls of Balram Kushwaha's family home in Kishanpur. Balram, who was the son of Haricharan Kushwaha, allegedly carried out the attack while his family members were asleep. Armed with an axe, he first targeted his thirty-two-year-old wife, Rabita Kushwaha, inflicting fatal wounds. The violence did not stop there, as Balram then turned the same weapon against his two young sons, eight-year-old Devu and five-year-old Aarav. The severity of the axe attacks was such that all three victims succumbed to their injuries instantly at the crime scene, leaving no chance for medical intervention.
The Final Act at the Railway Crossing
Following the horrific murders of his spouse and children inside their residence, Balram fled the village. He walked to the nearby Shikarpur railway crossing, situated a short distance from Kishanpur. There, he took his own life by throwing himself directly in front of an oncoming train. The discovery of his body at the tracks alerted local railway and police personnel, eventually leading investigators back to his home, where they discovered the gruesome scene containing the bodies of his wife and two young children.
A Dispute Over a Religious Dance Video
As investigators began delving into the possible motives behind the extreme actions of Balram, they recovered his mobile phone. Inside the device, police discovered a video that appears to have been the central point of contention in the marriage. The footage captured Rabita dancing during a religious discourse, specifically a Bhagwat Katha, which was organized at a temple in their village. Balram reportedly harbored severe objections to this video of his wife dancing in public. His resentment had grown to the point where he had forwarded the clip to several of his relatives, accompanying the video with messages expressing his deep anger and disapproval of her actions. This video and his subsequent actions indicate that a deep-seated suspicion regarding his wife's character had consumed him.
History of Domestic Discord and Relatives' Statements
The family of the deceased woman has pointed to a long-standing history of marital issues and domestic abuse. Rabita's father, Malkhan Singh Kushwaha, alongside her sister, Bharti, have come forward with serious allegations against Balram. They stated that Balram frequently subjected Rabita to physical abuse and was deeply troubled by suspicion regarding her character. The tension between the couple had escalated significantly in the days leading up to the tragedy. Approximately ten days prior to the incident, Balram had placed a telephone call to his father-in-law, Malkhan, demanding that he come and take Rabita along with the two children back to her paternal home. However, the separation was short-lived. On June 24, just four days after the call, relatives intervened and facilitated a reconciliation, bringing Rabita and the children back to Balram's house. Sadly, this temporary resolution ended in violence just days later.
Police Procedures and Ongoing Probe
Senior police officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhadauria, are overseeing the detailed investigation into the quadruple tragedy. A specialized team from the Forensic Science Laboratory was summoned to the crime scene to collect biological evidence, fingerprints, and other crucial physical data from the Kushwaha residence. The authorities have taken possession of all four bodies, conducting the initial inquest proceedings before sending them to the district headquarters in Morena for formal post-mortem examinations. Police officers are actively recording statements from neighbors, local villagers, and extended family members to understand the timeline of the dispute. DSP Bhadauria confirmed that the final post-mortem reports and the forensic findings from the home and the railway tracks will guide the subsequent legal proceedings in this case.
