A devastating road tragedy on the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district claimed the lives of four individuals, including three women, late on Friday night. Five other passengers, among them a three-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy, suffered severe injuries in the high-speed collision. All the victims belonged to a single family hailing from Para town in Jhabua district and were traveling toward the revered Khatu Shyam temple when the crash occurred at approximately 11:30 PM near Rajaliya Pada village within the jurisdiction of the Shivgarh police station.
Sequence of the Fatal Overtaking Maneuver
The family was traveling in a car that was moving at high speed along the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway. As the vehicle approached Rajaliya Pada village, the driver attempted to overtake a truck parked on the side of the highway. During this high-speed maneuver, the driver lost control over the steering wheel. The car tumbled on the expressway road before slamming violently into the stationary heavy vehicle parked along the shoulder.
Impact and Immediate Casualties at the Scene
The impact of the collision was extremely severe, reducing the vehicle to a wrecked shell and killing four occupants instantly. The deceased comprise three women and one man. Hearing the loud crash, nearby villagers rushed toward the highway to render assistance, encountering a gruesome scene with trapped passengers crying out for help inside the heavily damaged automobile.

Local residents alerted the authorities without delay. A team from the Shivgarh police station dispatched promptly to the site and commenced emergency rescue work alongside the villagers. Rescuers labored to extricate the surviving passengers from the crumpled vehicle.
