Reasons Behind the Cancellation
The decision comes in the wake of widespread technical failures reported across multiple examination centers in the state on Sunday. Candidates appearing for the test raised serious concerns regarding how the process was handled at various venues.
Server Failures and Protests by Candidates
Aspirants appearing at centers in Kalyan, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded, Washim, Bhandara, and other regions complained about server crashes, faulty keyboards, and systems logging them out mid-exam. These disruptions sparked strong protests by candidates in Kalyan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Third-Party Agency Involvement
The typing examination for Bombay High Court clerks is managed directly by the High Court itself, which typically hires an external vendor or a third-party testing agency to execute the logistical operations.
Scale of the Examination
Around 11,000 candidates were scheduled to appear for the typing test across 19 designated centers throughout Maharashtra. At the APMC Market center in Kalyan, over 400 aspirants staged demonstrations demanding a re-exam.
End of the Demonstration
The protests concluded late in the night after local administrative officials provided a written acknowledgment confirming that technical issues prevented the exam from taking place even though candidates reached the venues on time. However, immediate clarity on when the rescheduled test would take place was not available initially.
Registrar Statement Issued Earlier
Earlier in the evening, the High Court registrar released a statement maintaining that the examination was conducted smoothly across the board. At the same time, the administration acknowledged that technical grievances were received from specific locations like Kalyan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Inquiry into Agency Operations
The registrar assured that technical problems stemming from the exam conducting agency's procedures were under active review. Candidates were advised that official updates regarding subsequent steps would be communicated through proper channels.
